Neungthep Eminent Air vs ? 2008

Neungthep Eminent Air won the Lumpini flyweight strap at 115 lb earlier this year and defended it successfully against Panomrunglek Kiatmuu9 about a month later. Neungthep is a highly technical and patient fighter whose style is an interesting evolution of old and new school mentalities. His footwork and boxing are very technically sound, but he fights relatively static and can be reliant on his middle kicks to score points.

? has been featured before on this blog. Biographical information on ? remains limited. Here ? is seen with a more conservative hairstyle.

This fight takes place in Fairtex's Theprasit Stadium in Pattaya. Neungthep is in red, his opponent blue.

Thanks to ille82 for the video. This is once again a showcase of a highly technical fighter. Neungthep's style is much more in line with traditional Thai styles of fighting than Lertsila's, however. Lertsila is considered highly unorthodox because of his elusive style that relies heavily on head and feet movement. Neungthep's defense, while very solid, is used to deflect and counter his opponent as Neungthep advances. This fight shows beautiful use of technique in controlling an opponent. Neungthep is a very deliberate fighter and you can see him choose the techniques and counters he will use and patiently wait for his opponent to make a mistake and present a window for countering. Sometimes his deliberation costs him against a faster or more technical opponent, but this opponent is clearly neither of those. It's also inferable from his performances in winning and defending a Lumpini title that not many fighters are capable of besting him in speed and technique.
